History of Washington Gun Rights

Fighting for gun rights in Washington State is seen by some as a losing cause. That’s why there are so few organizations with the daring to take up the fight. Washington Gun Rights was founded because we know that the Jay Inslees and Bob Fergusons of this state will never stop attacking our gun rights. We must hold the line.

Additionally, we fight differently than legacy organizations. We use cutting-edge video updates, digital ads, and text-based mobilization programs to get the word out to hundreds of thousands of gun owners—moments after a bill is filed, not months later. And our election program goes on the offensive, exposing vulnerable Democrats at election time!

WGR runs full-scale mobilization programs opposing HB-2054 (which would limit gun owners to buying one gun a month), HB-1178 (which would repeal the state’s preemption law and allow city-level gun control), SB-5444 (which would designate most of Washington State as a ‘Gun Free Zone’), and SB-5963 (which would require gun owners to carry civil liability insurance to buy a gun). WGR members defeated each of these bills! Bob Ferguson is elected Governor.

2025: WGR Members Defeat All but One Gun Control Bill in Oly!

WGR fights for four straight months against Bob Ferguson, who is eager to prove what a gun-grabber he is. Late in session, Ferguson succeeds in passing HB-1163, which mandates a permit to purchase firearms. But WGR members defeat SB-5098 (which would have created countless new ‘Gun Free Zones’), HB-1132 (which would cap how much ammo gun owners can buy), and once again, HB-1178 (which would gut the state’s preemption law and let every liberal city in Washington pass their own gun control laws).
