Late Thursday night, the Washington Legislature adjourned for the year here in Olympia.
And despite months of coordinated attacks on our rights, every single gun control bill in the building was stopped.
Not weakened or delayed.
Stopped!
That outcome did not happen by accident. And it certainly did not happen because Ferguson and his allies suddenly changed their minds.
It happened because Washington Gun Rights members took action at a scale the political class could not ignore.
Nearly ONE MILLION pre-written emails opposing gun control slammed into legislative inboxes during this session from WGR members like you.
That level of pressure — especially in an election year — was a game changer.
So before anything else, let me say this clearly:
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
If you sent even one pre-written email this session, you helped stop gun control in Washington State this year.
The Bills We Stopped
Anti-gun lawmakers introduced a sweeping agenda designed to further restrict, ration, and ultimately dismantle our right to keep and bear arms. Among the worst proposals we defeated were:
👉 SB-5098, which would have dramatically increased the number of so-called “Gun Free Zones,” leaving more law-abiding citizens defenseless while criminals ignore the law.
👉 HB-1132, which would have limited how much ammunition Washingtonians could buy for certain firearms, a clear effort to disarm us by controlling the supply of ammunition.
👉 HB-1504, which would have forced gun owners to purchase liability insurance just to be able to own a firearm.
👉 HB-1178, which would have repealed Washington’s firearms preemption law, allowing every liberal city we have to pass their own local gun bans.
👉 HB-1386, which would have imposed a massive tax hike on the sale of firearms and ammunition, just to make it more expensive for regular people to be able to buy a gun.
None of these bills would have stopped violent predators. All of them would have impacted law abiding gun owners.
But each and every one of them failed this year.
Why Your Pre-Written Emails Matter So Much
Here in Olympia, anti-gun politicians frequently stack hearings with friendly speakers — then cut off public testimony before many gun owners even get a chance to speak.
We heard from members who took time off work, drove hours to the Capitol, and still were not allowed to testify.
That is by design.
But pre-written emails cannot be cut off, and they cannot be ignored.
And when hundreds of thousands arrive — nearly a million in total — they create overwhelming political pressure.
This is the tool that works in Washington State.
So if you sent one…you mattered.
If you sent several…you mattered even more.
Again — thank you.
Defeatism Was Proven Wrong
For years, many people have said that fighting gun control in Washington is hopeless.
Some have disengaged completely, convinced the outcome is predetermined.
But this session proved — once again — that organized grassroots pressure still matters.
WGR members showed that even in a deep-blue state, anti-gun politicians cannot simply pass whatever they want without consequences — especially when their inboxes are flooded with massive opposition.
You proved that defeatism wrong.
How This Victory Was Achieved
This was not spontaneous activism. It was a coordinated effort across multiple fronts.
Washington Gun Rights deployed:
>>> Mass pre-written email campaigns targeting key lawmakers
>>> Text alerts to keep gun owners informed in real time
>>> Digital advertising to expand pressure beyond our base
>>> Direct mail to reach supporters who are not online
Together, these programs mobilized a massive number of gun owners across the state — generating nearly one million emails and sustained pressure for months.
That is what forced lawmakers to think twice.
But The Fight Is Not Over
Session adjournment does not mean the threat has disappeared.
Governor Ferguson and anti-gun activists remain committed to their long-term agenda.
Over the coming months we’ll see agencies reinterpret existing gun laws, bill proposals for next session, and of course midterm elections. It’s going to be busy.
Ferguson hopes that we’ll check out until January, when session resumes. We cannot afford to do that.
Washington Gun Rights will continue monitoring developments, exposing new threats, mobilizing gun owners when necessary, and holding politicians accountable at election time.
That is how we hold the line for freedom here in Washington State.
And again, thank you from everyone at Washington Gun Rights for standing up and helping us hold the line for freedom and our great Second Amendment this session!
For Freedom,

Aaron Dorr
