I have major news for gun owners here in Washington State.
House Bill 1152 — the Democrats’ deadly gun storage mandate — has been KILLED in the House Rules Committee.
This is a massive victory, and it happened for one reason: you.
Because of nearly 75,000 pre-written emails sent by Washington Gun Rights members, Ferguson’s allies killed the bill, stopping it before it could reach the House floor.
Victories like this are rare in Olympia. And every single gun owner who took action should take a moment to recognize what we accomplished together.
HB-1152 was designed to criminalize gun owners for how we store firearms inside our own homes and vehicles.
Specifically, this bill would have:
👉 Forced gun owners to keep firearms locked up inside their own homes unless carried on their person — making it far harder to access a firearm during a violent home invasion
👉 Created new legal traps for gun owners who keep firearms in their vehicles, requiring them to be locked in opaque hard cases and completely out of sight
This bill would not have stopped criminals. It would have disarmed us and exposed us to bogus criminal prosecutions.
But, understand we are not out of the woods. Bills like HB-1152 can be stopped in committee, and then quietly attached to another gun control bill as an amendment.
This is one of the oldest tricks in Olympia.
And that brings us to Senate Bill 5098.
SB-5098 is already moving through the legislature. This bill would create massive expansions of “Gun Free Zones” across Washington State, disarming gun owners in vast areas of our state.
But there is a very real danger that anti-gun lawmakers will try to make this bill even worse by attaching the deadly storage mandates from HB-1152 onto SB-5098 before session ends.
We cannot allow that to happen.
Please use our automated system below to send your pre-written emails to the House Civil Rights & Judiciary Committee.
CONTACT THE COMMITTEE NOW: TELL THEM TO VOTE NO ON SB-5098!
And when you send your email, use the Send 3X feature, which ensures your email will be sent three times over three days — dramatically increasing your impact.
This is exactly the kind of sustained pressure that killed HB-1152. And it’s exactly what we must do now to crush SB-5098.
You helped stop one of the most dangerous gun control bills filed this session. Now we need to do it again.
