It’s been a few weeks since session ended in Olympia, and because gun owners like you stepped up, we stopped Ferguson’s push to pass SB-5098.
That was a huge win, and we’re still pumped about it.
But this threat is far from over.
Ferguson and his allies are already working to build support for SB-5098 again right now. Behind closed doors, they’re talking to leadership, counting votes, and figuring out which House Democrats refused to go along last time.
In other words, they aren’t starting from scratch next year.
Ferguson and Speaker Jinkins are developing the list of hold outs, and they will be working them behind closed doors to try to lock in the last few votes they need.
Remember, this bill passed the Senate two years in a row. The only reason it’s not law today is because we stopped it in the House. Barely.

As a reminder, SB-5098 would ban law-abiding gun owners from carrying in places we use every day — parks, beaches, fairs, community centers, playgrounds, and public buildings.
In other words, the places we take our families.
And the result is the same as always. Law abiding people are disarmed, while criminals ignore the law like they do every other gun control scheme Ferguson has pushed.
He knows that. He just doesn’t care.
Now that session is over, they have time to work this quietly and come back stronger. That’s how bills like this eventually pass — not in one big push, but by grinding it out until they have the votes.
That’s why we’re not backing off.
Washington Gun Rights is launching a statewide petition to make it clear that gun owners are still watching this bill and will hold lawmakers accountable if they try to pass it.
When thousands of gun owners sign, we’ll deliver that message directly to Olympia.

We’re continuing our email alerts, digital ads, and grassroots outreach to make sure this bill doesn’t slip through the cracks while politicians assume no one is paying attention.
Because make no mistake, SB-5098 is not dead.
They’re just working to pass it the next time it comes up.

P.S. SB-5098 has already passed the Senate twice. The only reason it’s not law is because gun owners stopped it.
But Ferguson is not letting this go. Sign your petition now and help us make sure we can continue to carry concealed in Washington State.
